Local media processing does not mean no network activity
Your media is not uploaded to the developer for compression. Purchases, app-usage analytics when enabled, location-related Apple services, support, and visits to this website can send limited information to service providers. Optional Google Firebase Analytics is off by default for fresh installs. You can control it in onboarding or the Info tab.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
ZipCam is provided by Ganesh Pawar, an independent developer (“ZipCam,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy covers the ZipCam app for iPhone and iPad, supported use on Mac, its related extensions, support and feedback features, and ZipCam pages on this website.
ZipCam helps you compress photos and videos, process batches, prepare passport-style photos, and add location information when you choose location-enabled features. No ZipCam account or personal profile is required. Contact us at zipcambybg@gmail.com about privacy questions.
2. Information handled on your device
Depending on the features you use and permissions you grant, ZipCam can access:
- Camera: photos you capture directly in the app.
- Photos: photos and videos you select or permit the app to access, and the library information needed to display and process them, such as dates, dimensions, duration, file sizes, and local Photos identifiers. Photos access also lets the app save output and, after review of eligible saved copies from Compress or Batch, request removal of originals you explicitly select, with Apple’s confirmation.
- Location: your current location for optional geotags and location stamps. See section 3 for location services and sharing risks.
- Local app data: processed copies, previews, processing records, output settings, and feature preferences. Related local data may be shared between ZipCam and its extensions through Apple's App Group storage.
Compression and image editing happen on your device. We do not operate a cloud media-storage service or receive your photo library through these workflows. Local processing does not prevent Apple Photos, iCloud, device backups, or a sharing destination from handling media under your own settings and their privacy practices.
Copies saved in ZipCam's in-app library are separate from originals in Apple Photos. Deleting an in-app saved copy does not delete its Apple Photos original.
3. Location, geotags, and sharing
Location features are optional. When you enable them and grant permission, ZipCam can use your current coordinates to add GPS metadata or a visible location stamp to an image. Apple location, place-name lookup, and map services may process coordinates and technical request information to provide those features. See Apple's Location Services privacy information and Apple's Privacy Policy.
A recipient may read embedded GPS metadata or see a location printed on the image. Disabling future location access does not remove location information already saved in an image. Choose whether compressed copies retain location metadata; retention defaults to off for new settings, while existing saved preferences are respected. Capture dates can be preserved when available. Review copies before sharing. A visible stamp is part of the picture and is not erased by turning off location metadata retention.
When you choose to share or export media, the person, app, or service you select receives it under its own privacy practices. ZipCam does not send your photos or videos to third parties for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. External services and information they receive
Apple Photos and iCloud
Apple Photos may retrieve media stored in iCloud when a feature needs an item that is not available locally. Output saved to Apple Photos may sync through iCloud Photos if you have enabled it. Apple's device backup or transfer services may also handle app data according to your settings. These services are operated by Apple; we do not receive that media.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes ZipCam Pro payments through your App Store account. RevenueCat helps verify subscription status, restore purchases, and provide paid features. Purchase-related information may include product identifiers, purchase history, receipt or transaction information, subscription status, a generated app-user identifier, and app/device technical information. Your photos and videos are not needed for purchase verification, and we do not receive full payment-card details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Prices, billing periods, and auto-renewal terms are shown before purchase. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account subscription settings and use Restore Purchases in ZipCam. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Feedback and email support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. Our Feedback Form is hosted by Google. Google and the developer receive the information you choose to submit; Google may also process technical information about your visit under Google's Privacy Policy. Include only what is needed to explain the issue; avoid passwords, payment details, and sensitive media in support messages or feedback.
This website and the existing GitHub policy
ZipCam pages on ganeshpawar.app use GoDaddy hosting. Our static source does not add advertising, analytics scripts, or cookies. GoDaddy may process IP addresses, browser information, request logs, and performance information, and may insert its own monitoring scripts. See GoDaddy's Privacy Notice and hosting-log information. The existing policy at pawargb.github.io/ZipCam/ is hosted by GitHub Pages, which may process technical request information under GitHub's Privacy Statement.
Legal requirements
Information we actually hold may be disclosed when required by law or a valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety. We cannot provide on-device media that has never been sent to us.
5. App-usage analytics
ZipCam uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand feature use and improve app flows. Collection is off by default for fresh installs. You can choose whether to enable it in onboarding and change your choice at any time in the Info tab. Existing saved preferences are respected.
When collection is enabled, analytics can include:
- screen visits, button taps, selected options, and app-session information;
- compression starts, outcomes, error categories, media type, item counts, and input/output file sizes;
- purchase and restore outcomes, subscription status, product identifiers, prices, and currency; and
- onboarding answers, including text you choose to enter when describing how you discovered ZipCam.
Analytics does not upload your photo or video content. The SDK may process an app-instance identifier, device and app information, and approximate location derived from network information. These technical identifiers mean the data should not be treated as completely anonymous. Avoid entering personal or sensitive information in onboarding free-text answers. See Firebase privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy.
Turning the setting off disables further collection. It does not delete data already sent to Google. Previously collected data is retained according to the Analytics property's retention settings and applicable provider terms. Contact us about requests concerning information already collected.
6. Why information is handled
We use information to provide the media tools and save destinations you request, remember local preferences, verify and restore Pro access, understand app usage when analytics is enabled, respond to support, prevent purchase fraud, and meet applicable legal obligations. Camera, Photos, and Location permissions can be changed in device settings. Analytics is controlled separately using the in-app setting described above.
7. Your choices, retention, and deletion
- Permissions: change or revoke Camera, Photos, and Location access in your device settings. Choose limited Photos access where available. Some features may stop working when access is removed.
- Analytics: choose optional Google Firebase Analytics in onboarding or Info. It is off by default for fresh installs. Turning it off stops future collection but does not delete previously collected information.
- Local copies: use ZipCam's available controls to delete in-app saved copies. Saving a compressed copy does not remove the original. Eligible originals can optionally be selected for removal after comparison in Compress or Batch, with Apple’s confirmation. Photos’ Recently Deleted behavior and iCloud syncing can delay available-space changes; deletions may sync across devices using iCloud Photos. Removing ZipCam removes its app data according to the platform's behavior; it does not remove images already exported or shared elsewhere.
- Backups and sync: manage Apple Photos, iCloud, device backups, and exported copies separately. Removing local data does not necessarily remove copies retained in a backup or by another service.
- Subscriptions: manage cancellation through your Apple Account. Apple and RevenueCat may retain transaction records for purchase verification, fraud prevention, accounting, and legal requirements.
- Support and feedback: we retain communications only as long as reasonably needed for support, follow-up, resolving disputes, or legal duties. You can request deletion of information we control.
Local data remains until you remove it with available controls or remove the app. External providers retain the information they process according to their settings, policies, and legal duties. We do not promise recovery of local media after deletion or device loss.
8. International processing
Apple, RevenueCat, Google, GoDaddy, and GitHub may process information in countries other than where you live. Their policies explain their processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards. Privacy rights and protections can differ by country.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection to the processing of personal information we control, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You may also be able to complain to your local data-protection authority or appeal a refusal where the law provides that right. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable rights.
Send your request to zipcambybg@gmail.com and explain the app or service involved. We may need to verify your request. We cannot access or delete on-device media that never reached us; use your device controls for that data. We will help with requests concerning our providers where applicable, and a provider may need to respond directly for information it independently controls.
10. Children’s privacy
ZipCam is a general photo utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
11. Security and local-storage limits
We rely on Apple's app sandboxing, platform protections, and permission model. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and local storage is not a guarantee against device loss or unauthorized access. Keep your device updated, use a device passcode, and keep a separate backup of important originals. Check processed copies before relying on them or deleting originals.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when features, providers, or legal requirements change. The current policy and revision date will be posted here. For material changes, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required before a new use begins.

Frequently asked questions
1. What is ZipCam?
ZipCam is a photo utility app for iPhone and iPad that helps you manage image size and output quickly. You can compress single photos, batch compress multiple photos, compress images to a specific target size, compress videos, generate passport photos, and add geotags when needed.
2. How do I use ZipCam?
- Open ZipCam and choose a feature (single compress, batch compress, target-size compress, passport photo, or geotag tools).
- Select photos from your library or capture new photos where applicable.
- Adjust output settings and process your images.
- Save results to your Photos app.
3. What image formats are supported?
ZipCam supports common image formats, including JPEG, PNG, and HEIC. Supported output options can vary slightly depending on the specific feature and source image.
4. Will compression reduce quality?
Compression typically reduces file size by lowering quality to some extent. ZipCam gives you control over settings so you can choose the right balance between image quality and storage savings.
5. Where are compressed or edited images saved?
ZipCam supports two save destinations:
- Apple Photos app (default): Processed images are saved to your Photos library, subject to the permissions you grant.
- ZipCam in-app library (Photos tab): If you enable the "Save In App" setting, processed images are also saved inside ZipCam's Photos tab. This setting requires an active Pro subscription.
You can choose the setup that fits your workflow and privacy preference.
6. Why is my image not compressing?
- Confirm the selected image format is supported.
- Check that required Photos/Camera permissions are enabled.
- For geotagging features, confirm Location access is enabled if location data is required.
- Try closing and reopening the app, then retry with the same image.
7. Why is the compressed image still large?
Output size depends on the original image resolution, visual complexity, and selected settings. Try a stronger compression level or lower target size if your current result is larger than expected.
8. Is ZipCam free to use?
ZipCam includes free photo features and optional ZipCam Pro purchases. Current prices and available purchase terms are shown in-app before purchase. Pro includes Batch videos, Folder/Infinity compression, Cleanup selection, the optional in-app saved-photo library, and iPhone/iPad Share Sheet compression.
9. How do I cancel my subscription?
Open your iPhone Settings, tap your Apple Account, then Subscriptions, and select ZipCam to manage or cancel. You can also use Restore Purchases in ZipCam to recover access after reinstalling or changing devices.
10. How can I contact support?
Email us at zipcambybg@gmail.com.
11. Does ZipCam collect analytics?
ZipCam offers optional Google Firebase Analytics, off by default for fresh installs. You can control it in onboarding or the Info tab. Analytics does not upload your photo or video content, but can include technical identifiers, usage events, compression sizes, and onboarding answers. See section 5 for details.
12. Where can I report a bug or request a feature?
Submit feedback through our Feedback Form or email us at zipcambybg@gmail.com.
