Common questions.

A few answers to get you moving again.

How do I compress a photo or video?

Choose a compression tool in ZipCam, select your media, adjust the available settings, and process it. Review the result before saving or sharing. Batch video compression, Folder/Infinity mode, Cleanup selection, the optional in-app saved-photo library, and iPhone/iPad Share Sheet compression require Pro. Free photo batches support up to 99 photos.

Why can’t I select or save photos?

Check ZipCam’s Photos permission in your device’s Settings. With limited access, allow the specific items you want to use. Camera and location tools also need their respective permissions. Check that your device has enough free storage to save the output.

Why is the result larger than my target size?

The result depends on the original file, format, dimensions, and compression settings. Photo custom targets support 1–1023 KB; Batch custom targets require a selection of three photos or fewer. Pro video targets set a maximum MB size per video in Batch or Folder mode, with optional original resolution, including 4K. Not every target can be achieved. Try a lower quality or smaller dimensions where available, and check the exported file size.

Will compression change the quality?

It can reduce detail. Use lighter compression for important photos and review the result at full size. Keep original files when you may need them for editing or printing.

What should I do if compression stops?

Update ZipCam, reopen the app, and try one smaller file to see whether the issue is specific to a file or batch. Include the tool, input format, approximate file size, and selected settings when contacting support. Keep your original files. Open skipped or failed Batch items for explanations and next steps.

Does saving a compressed copy remove the original?

No. After saving eligible copies from Compress or Batch, compare them and explicitly choose which originals to remove from Photos, with Apple’s confirmation. Removal is optional. Recently Deleted and iCloud syncing can delay changes in available storage, and deletions can sync across iCloud Photos devices.

Can I use ZipCam offline or on Mac?

Compression works offline for media already on your device; iCloud-only originals need downloading first. On Apple silicon Mac, ZipCam runs as a Designed for iPad app, with Batch grids and adjacent previews, keyboard shortcuts, Finder actions, last-tab restoration, and improved Continuity Camera handling. Share Sheet compression requires Pro and is for iPhone and iPad.

How do I control location and analytics?

Choose whether compressed copies keep location metadata; retention defaults to off for new settings. Preserve capture dates when available. Optional Google Firebase Analytics is off by default for fresh installs and can be controlled in onboarding or Info. Compression does not upload media for processing.

YOUR PURCHASES

Access &
subscriptions.

Help with restoring access, managing a plan, or requesting a refund.

I purchased access but it isn’t available. What should I do?

Check that you are signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. Connect to the internet, reopen the app, and use its Restore Purchases option. If access is still missing, email the developer with the plan and purchase date. Do not include your Apple Account password or payment-card details.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and select the app. On Mac, use the App Store account settings to manage subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple’s subscription guide.

How do I request a refund?

Apple handles App Store payments and refund requests. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and follow the refund-request steps. Eligibility is determined by Apple. Read Apple’s refund guide.
